I am associate professor in Urban Planning and Everyday Life at Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management, Section for Landscape Architecture and Planning, where I am PhD coordinator and leader of the research group Spatial Change and Planning.

At the core of my research and teaching is an interest in the relationship between people’s everyday life and the built environment and its implications for urban planning and governance, sustainable urban mobility and urban liveability. I have a specific focus on how marginalised citizen groups (children, youth, socially vulnerable people) use, experience and prefer public space and living environments. I explore how novel methods for citizen sensitive knowledge production on living conditions, daily mobility and place attachment can inform and improve the inclusiveness and sustainability of urban planning. I also investigate how urban form and land-use, built infrastructures and transport cultures form transport behaviours, especially as regards sustainable travel modes and potentials and framing conditions of urban argriculture.

I supervise PhD scholars Anne Madsbjerg (Urban Community Gardening) and co-supervise Juhyu Hu (The influence of electric bikes on urban commuting patterns).

I teach and supervise in the Landscape Architecture programme. I am co-responsible for the bachelor courses Bysociologi (Urban sociology) and Fagets Videnskabsteori (Philosophy of Science) and teach also at the courses Plan & Design 2 and Byplan Studio (Urban Planning Studio). I also supervise bachelor and master theses.
