Title: Exploring emergent geometry in higher spin theories

Abstract: I will discuss signatures of an emergent geometry in boundary duals to higher spin theories. Both free matrix and vector models undergo phase transitions on compact spaces that hint at the existence of black hole phases in the dual bulk theories. Low order correlation functions reveal many similarities, but also some important differences between Vasiliev type higher spin theories and string theories in the tensionless limit. I will put particular focus on time dependent correlation functions, including their late time behavior, and address the existence of evanescent modes.
