Mindeord om Leo P. Kadanoff / in memory of Leo P. Kadanoff

Leo Kadanoff received a number of international prizes, including the Wolf Prize, Elliott Cresson Medal, Lars Onsager Prize, Lorentz Medal and the Isaac Newton Medal. In year 2000 he was appointed Honorary Doctor at University of Copenhagen and in 2010 he received the Niels Bohr Institute Medal of Honour.

Professor Leo P. Kadanoff døde den 26. oktober i Chicago. Professor Leo P. Kadanoff passed away on October 26th in Chicago.

Kadanoff had a very long association with the Niels Bohr Institute. He was a postdoc under Niels Bohr from 1959 to 1960 and during this period he wrote the highly cited book “Quantum Statistical Mechanics" with Gordon Baym.

In the 1990s, Kadanoff sat on NBI's Scientific Advisory board for several years and in the period from 2007 to 2011, he sat on the board of the Niels Bohr International Academy. It was therefore quite natural that he was the first recipient of the Niels Bohr Institute Medal of Honour in 2010.

Work-related skills development

Activities for employees regarding skills development. Courses held in English are provided by HR Skills & Leadership Development, HR & Organisation. Language courses are offered by the Centre for Internationalisation and Parallel Language Use.

You will find activities and information in these categories:

Pre-leadership course ’Career, Women and UCPH’

UCPH focuses on career development for women. Female researchers gain good insights into the special conditions applying to University leadership, including team leadership, a thorough political and organizational understanding of the University and the opportunity to learn more about careers in management and reflect on own career path. Attendees work on such important issues as: How can I gain legitimacy as a manager at UCPH and prepare myself mentally for taking on a managerial role? See more in the pamphlet attached.

The pre-leadership process is aimed at female researchers without extensive managerial responsibilities, and the target group is postdocs, associate/assistant and full professors.
