Turbulente strømninger i 2D kan beregnes i ny model

Turbulente strømninger har udfordret forskerne i århundreder. Det kaotiske vejr er umuligt at forudsige ud over en uges tid.

Turbulente strømninger er kaotiske, og selv på de største
computere kan man kun beregne dem tilnærmelsesvis.

Vindmodstanden på et fly eller en bil kan ikke udregnes nøjagtigt, da det er bestemt af luftens turbulens. Nu er det imidlertid lykkedes forskere fra Niels Bohr Institutet at udvikle en statistisk model, der kan eftergøre de kaotiske strømninger og derved give en bedre forståelse af processen. Forsknings-resultaterne er publiceret i det videnskabelige tidsskrift, Physics of Fluids.

Smashing Halloween success at NBI
