Peter Lodahl ny professor i kvantefotonik på NBI

Niels Bohr Institutet har netop ansat en ny professor, Peter Lodahl og får dermed også et helt nyt forskningsområde, kvantefotonik, som er en sammensmeltning af kvanteoptik og nanofysik. Med sig bringer han sin forskningsgruppe på ni forskere. Forskningen kan blandt andet bane vejen for kvantekommunikation.

Peter Lodahl er uddannet fysiker fra Århus Universitet i 1997, og i år 2000 blev han ph.d. i kvantefysik fra Københavns Universitet.

Ny rekord for målt atomar levetid

Forskere på Niels Bohr Institutet har med stor præcision målt levetiden af et ekstremt stabilt energiniveau for magnesiumatomer.

Magnesiumatomer anvendes til forskning i ultra-præcise atomure. De nye målinger viser en levetid på 2050 sekunder, hvilket svarer til ca. ½ time, som er den længste levetid nogensinde målt i et laboratorium.

Resultaterne er publiceret i det videnskabelige tidsskrift Physical Review Letters.

Emil Bjerrum-Bohr får 10 mio. kr. til forskning i partikelfysikkens gåder

Fysiker på Niels Bohr Institutet, Emil Bjerrum-Bohr er blevet tildelt 10 mio. kr. fra Lundbeckfonden til opbygning af sin egen forskningsgruppe, som skal udforske fysikkens gåder ved at bygge bro mellem den teoretiske partikelfysik og de eksperimenter, som lige netop nu foregår ved CERN, den europæiske organisation for atomforskning.

Med den nye bevilling på 10 mio. kr. fra Lundbeckfonden har han nu mulighed for at opbygge og lede sin helt egen forskningsgruppe, Amplitude Computation Group, CAMP ved Niels Bohr Internationale Akademi og Discovery Centeret på Niels Bohr Institutet.
