Phoenix Mars Lander Mission Danes

Seven members of our group work on the Phoenix Mars Lander Mission. This photo shows the team in front of our temporary home in Tucson, Arizona, where we will be working at the Science Operations Center for the Phoenix Mission from May through September 2008.

From the left the photo shows: Morten Bo Madsen, Lone Djernis Olsen, Kristoffer Leer, Christina von Holstein-Rathlou, Mads Dam Ellehøj, Line Drube and our Icelandic "Dane" Haraldur Páll Gunnlaugsson (we call him Palle).

Palle, at the far right is instrument-provider (the Telltale) and Phoenix Co-investigator from MarsLab at the Institut for Physics and Astronomy, University of Aarhus. Morten at the far left is instrument-provider (CalTargets and MECA magnets) and Phoenix Co-investigator from the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen.

All the young persons between Palle and Morten are physicists - most of them ph.d.-students in our group. Lone did her thesis on the microscopes, Kristoffer will be writing codes for the Robotic Arm Camera aswell as participate in the interpretation of magnetic properties of airborne dust on the iSweep/Caltarget and MECA substrates, Christina will work on interpretation of telltale-images, Mads with the TEGA and Line with atmospheric dust and mineralogy using the iSweeps.
