The Bohr family

Niels Bohr (1885-1962) was the son of Christian Bohr, professor of physiology at the University of Copenhagen, and Ellen Bohr, n. Adler, the daughter of a prominent Copenhagen banker. He had an older sister, Jenny, and a younger brother, Harald, who became an internationally renowned mathematician.

Apart from his commitment to developing his institute, Bohr involved himself in a variety of matters, from personal research in physics to world politics. Bohr is frequently regarded as one of the greatest physicist of the twentieth century.
