In the footsteps of the Norsemen

It was a land with plenty of opportunities when the Viking Erik the Red settled in Greenland over 1000 years ago. The Vikings brought along all kinds of livestock and lived as farmers. But after 500 years the Norseman abruptly left their farms and never returned. Danish researchers have tried for generations to explain why they disappeared. Today they have come much closer to solving the mystery and along the way have pieced together exciting news about an unusually hardy people: The European Greenlanders.
