The european science policy organization, ScienceEurope has been created by the european funding agencies and research organisations to develop the european research area (ERA) and formulate research policies, priorities and strategies for Europe.

“There is currently an increased awareness of how research can contribute to societal development for instance through more innovation, but it is also important to keep in mind that the long-term basic research creates the foundation for innovation. It will be interesting and important, in Science Europe, to work for a balanced view of how the two aspects best reinforce each other”, says Jens Jørgen Gaardhøje.

It works and partners with other entities such as the European Universities, the European Academies, the European Scientific Intergovernmental Organisations and the European Commission to develop a coherent and inclusive European research area.
