The large D limit of GR

We will see how one can take a well-behaved large D limit of GR (based on arXiv:1303.1995). In particular, the limit allows for an effective description of black hole dynamics due to separation of scales. Thus if one considers GR as a theory of interacting black holes one can study aspects of the theory in a simple setting. In particular, we will see that black holes behave much like configurations of dust and how well black brane stability is predicted in this limit. More generally the analysis shows some promise for obtaining analytical results for theories that can be formulated in arbitrary dimensions by taking this limit.
