Quantum Optics Seminar by Martin Plenio

The exact representation of an N party entangled state requires the specification of a number of states that grows exponentially in N.

Most of these numbers are small, in fact exponentially small, and not relevant for the computation of most physical quantities. Hence efficient methods for the determination of physical quantities should take account of that fact and only measure what is really needed. In this lecture I will discuss a few approaches to this problem which will hopefully become useful for present and future quantum information processing experiments.
