Climatic and environmental processes revealed by trace elements in ice cores

Due to their low abundance in the Earth¹s system, trace elements are very variable in space and time, even within similar environmental compartments. When they are mobilized into the atmosphere, they have therefore the potential to fingerprint their origin and sources.
Here, I present some of my studies that show how trace elements determined in ice cores can be used to infer information on the past fallout of aerosols of crustal, volcanic, cosmic and anthropogenic origin.
