Master Thesis Defense by Laura Gava
Abstract:
Causal Dynamical Triangulations is a theory of quantum gravity that imposes a causal structure on the triangulations used to regularize two-dimensional spacetimes.
By allowing for space to split and merge, Causal Dynamical Triangulations has been formulated as a String Field Theory, which can also be described by a matrix model. Via this matrix model, a sum over topologies has been performed.
In my thesis, I review the development of CDT, as well as some of its results. The defence will focus on the sum over all genera for two-dimensional spacetimes.
