On Topology Optimization in a Viscous, Compressible and Turbulent Navier-Stokes Flow - Experimental Setup

Design optimizing structures in turbulent velocity fields can be a costly procedure. The velocity field, alone, often requires advanced equipment when computing at high Reynolds number. The experiments (that being simulations) will be distributed on a multi-core system for fast computation. This will be done by use of Java, secure shell and shell scripting. The methods will be outlined and a description of how the software is made to work together will be presented. Secure shell is only used in case of a low budget setup.

 

The colloquium is finished by a presentation of some performance tests done on a four core system, regarding memory- and distribution management.
