Title:

"Explicit Amplitudes for scattering of open strings on the worldvolume of a single D-brane"

The talk is a presentation of the work in the master thesis entitled "Explicit amplitudes for scattering of open strings on the worldvolume of a single D-brane." The goal of the thesis is to study scattering of open strings on the worldvolume of a single D-brane and to calculate scattering amplitudes in four and in six dimensions. Scattering amplitudes are naturally very interesting objects since they form the direct connection between theory and experiment and the thesis includes new amplitude calculations in six dimensions which have not been carried out before. These new amplitude results are presented in the talk along with useful developments used in the calculations. Also a general introduction to high energy physics and string theory is given and it is explained how the amplitude calculations fit in the big picture and why scattering amplitudes are such interesting objects in high energy physics and in particular in connection to the Large Hadron Collider at CERN
