Title: Randomness and Order in Statistical Properties of Many-body Wave Functions


  With increasing excitation energy and level density, the stationary states of interacting many-fermion systems become exceedingly complicated approaching the chaotic limit of random matrix theory. Then we can discuss the relation between the properties of generic individual wave functions and statistical description of a thermal ensemble. Such features are insensitive to the details of dynamics and can be studied with random interactions. However, random interactions also allow us to explore the low energy region leading to unexpected and not fully understood results. Among them I am going to show the predominance of spin zero ground states and predominance of prolate deformations.
