Abstract:
One of the aspects of the understanding of the Universe evolution is its star formation history. In my thesis I investigated the obscured star formation in the Universe based on two sample of galaxies, namely gamma-ray burst (GRB) host galaxies and submm-selected galaxies (SMGs). In particular my thesis includes the investigation of the submm/radio bright GRB hosts; the host of the closest known GRB and the Wolf-Rayet region close to its position; and SMGs up to redshift of ~5. Using the spectral energy distribution modelling I analysed the properties of these star-forming galaxies. I discussed the properties of their stellar populations and dust as well as the infrared-radio correlation.
