Junior Faculty meeting June 8, 2009, 10:59 - 13:00

The Niels Bohr Institute Junior Faculty (NBI-JF) consists of the PhD-students and scientists in time limited positions at the Niels Bohr Institute and represents the present and future interests of its members. This is the first 2009 meeting of NBI-JF.

It a pleasure to invite to the first 2009 meeting of NBI-JF.

Programme

  • Welcome, appointment of chair and rapporteur (Sune O. Rasmussen).
  • Head of Institute John Renner presents news from the institute
  • A short overview of the rules and practices for the funding of travel and equipment for PhD students. Discussion of our wishes and ideas for new rules as input to the work on new faculty-wide harmonised rules that are under way from faculty level (Sune O. Rasmussen)
  • The future role of NBI-JF: what are the needs and wishes (Jonatan Bohr Brask)
  • Election of new members for the NBI-JF executive committee (see below)
  • Lunch. Registration is needed (see below)

Sign up for free lunch

There is lunch (approximately at 12:30) sponsored by NBI / NBI-JF. To register for lunch send an e-mail to Sune Olander Rasmussen no later than June 1. Please indicate special dietary requests.

Election of new members for the executive committee

NBI-JF is represented by an executive committee (EC) consisting of 1-3 persons, preferably one from each geographical location. The only required work is to arrange two annual meetings, but the new EC has free hands to arrange further meetings or social events.

NBI-JF has a budget of 10,000 kr/year for this purpose.

Joining the EC is a great way to get to know people across NBI and get familiar with the organisation of the institute.

The current EC consists of Jonatan Bohr Brask (HCØ) and Sune O. Rasmussen (Rockefeller). Søren Erfurt Andresen was member of the EC until Feb. 1, 2009, but has left his position at NBI. Sune's mandate has expired, and he has declined re-election due to upcoming leave. The EC thus needs up to two more members. Christo Buizert, PhD student at Centre for Ice and Climate (Rockefeller), has volunteered as candidate for the EC. Ideally, the EC should also have a postdoc member, and the most ideal candidate is from HCØ as all three locations then would be represented. However, other candidates are also very welcome. Candidates are kindly asked to announce their candidacy no later than June 1 by e-mail to Sune Olander Rasmussen.
