Cryogenic engineer at Microsoft Quantum - Copenhagen and the Center for Quantum Devices

Microsoft Quantum - Copenhagen is a research center sponsored by Microsoft Research aimed at developing the basic building block for a quantum computer and is a part of the Niels Bohr Insitute.

The Center for Quantum Devices is a basic research center supported by the Danish National Research Foundation, comprising materials research, experimental physics, nanoelectronics and condensed matter theory.

The position

The Center for Quantum Devices and Microsoft Quantum - Copenhagen seeks to hire an engineer/scientist with expertise in millikelvin cryogenics, dilution refrigerator operation including vacuum technology, thermometry, cryogenic materials, and cryogenic electronics. The job entails maintaining and improving a number of dilution refrigerators, teaching operation to students and researchers, and interacting with the manufacturers for maintenance, repair and upgrades. Also, a database of performance and a stock of spares should be maintained.

The position is open from 1 August 2018 or by arrangement.

The candidate

The successful candidate should have a Master’s degree or US undergraduate degree in a relevant technical field and work experience with dilution refrigerators. Familiarity with electronics is also beneficial.

Terms of appointment and payment

The position has a duration of 1 year. Related long term position will be advertised during this year.

  • The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.
  • Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

The salary depending on seniority is currently at a minimum DKK 318.896 including (+ pension). Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
